REMEMBER MEMORIAL DAY
Remember that Memorial Day is celebrated this year on May 25th , and we want to remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice to uphold and defend our freedoms around the world. Our way of honoring those who are no longer with us, is by supporting those who followed in their footsteps and are serving us around the world today out of the Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson.
One of the programs we have supported at the DM Base is the Hearts Apart program for the families of deployed troops. In some cases both Mommy and Daddy are gone serving around the world. The Hearts Apart program plans monthly special outings for the children and their family care givers. They have planned a big Luau in July for the Hearts Apart program that will welcome back a number of the deployed and give a happy time to the children and families of DM. We will designate our Memorial giving to this end and show our support to these military families. Please give generously to this project and show our love and appreciation for their service. Your checks may be deposited in the Sunday offering plate, but please put “Memorial day fund” in the memo line so that your contribution will go to its intended place, OR Dee will be in the breezeway today and next Sunday for your contributions.
THANKS FOR REMEMBERING!!
NO BEANS ABOUT IT!
My how the time does fly!! It’s almost time for the Annual Conference of the Desert Southwest! That means that a Mission project has been selected for each church’s participation. Last year we collected socks—lots of them– and our congregation at Vista was more than generous.
This year the theme is “Beans and Tuna”! Bob Sherman and Debbi Maloid, Lay members to Annual Conference, will be providing more information on several Sunday mornings. The central idea is that we will be collecting canned tuna and canned or dry beans of every variety until June 14th. A receptacle for collection will be in the narthex just like last year. Please donate generously!! All proceeds will go to IMPACT ( formerly known as Catalina Community Services ). NOTE: we will not be collecting money for the purchase of these items as we did last year. We will only be collecting cans and/or dry beans.
Think about this: Beans and tuna are good for the soul;
The more you donate the better we roll.
Your generosity is always a treat;
Let’s bring in those cans so others may eat!
Thank you as always for your generosity. May God bless you richly !!
